Bread & Circuses
“Could anything show a more shameful lack of culture than to have so little justice in oneself that one must get it from others, who thus become masters and judges over one?” PLATO
* All music and lyrics by A. Wright except where otherwise noted.
1. OCTOBER – Bread and Circuses
2. Part 1 – The Neighbor
Here’s a tale about my town,
And folks that I once knew
Now I don't mean to bring you down
But every word is true
I think it was October
When I saw it all unfold
I swear that I was sober
And now it shall be told
I had this crazy neighbor
I’d never seen her smile
She seemed to be in labor,
I really dug her style
She said "I never met a man
to ever float my boat
Mary had a little lamb".
That really got my goat
3. She’s Illuminated
She was struck by a bolt of lightening
Deep within her brain
Now nothing but the child
And her crazy dreams remain
She’s Illuminated Now!
She is like a firefly
A shooting star across the sky
She doesn’t swear, she doesn’t lie
She has the power to deny
Now I’m drowning in her waves
She’s standing on the shore
She can’t concern herself with things
In the real world anymore
I wish I could reflect her light
Or contract her disease
I want to know just what she knows
And see just what she sees
4. The Riddle of Life
No matter where you go or who you meet
There ain’t nobody claiming
that their life’s complete
Most people doing just what they’re told
And young people thinking
that they’ll never get old
It’s a riddle, It’s the riddle of life
No matter who you vote for
Or who you hire
You always have to wonder
about their real desire
Whoever who you choose
to be your mate
You always have to wonder
if they’re born too late
Well this ain’t no joke
There ain’t no punch line
You’ll just keep wondering
till the end of time
And nobody knows
just where it ends
And when it does, what begins?
Well this human race keeps rolling on
And one day with a whimper
it’ll all be gone
It won’t take bombs
and it won’t take wars
Did you ever hear of those creatures called the dinosaurs?
5. Take a Walk
Take a walk, Take a hike
Take a train, Take a bike
There’s a part that you must play
But not with me and not today
Take a walk, take a stroll
Take a fall, take a roll
Take the place where you’re assigned
Take my advice
Oh never mind
6. Interlude #1 – Mary Had a Little Lamb
7. Part 2 – The Heathen
So I turned away and hung my head
and went to buy some beer
T'was then I saw the signs that read
"Circus Time is Near"
It took me back to days of old
I even cracked a smile
But still the town felt mean and cold
The courthouse had a trial
A heathen had been branded
For deeds that weren't right
It seems he was left handed
And a darker shade of white
The jurors were all satisfied
But something was amiss
Something told me deep inside
We all would pay for this
8. No Penance
Well there’s no penance
For Hell’s tenants
And there’s no forgiveness for you
You’re an easy target
And there’s nothing you can do
They’re gonna put a label
On your head
Just because of something stupid
That you said
That way they won’t have to feel
When they lead you out into the fields
That’ll save a lot of face
when they put you in your place.
9. The Heathen (Continued)
Well he never did nuthin’
But speak his mind
Now destiny is callin’
He never was the criminal kind
Now somehow he has fallen
And I don’t think that he’s ever coming home
So dry your tears and try to carry on
One day this evil will be overthrown
One day the truth will be known
10. Media Giant
Well Fee Fi fo and Fum
I smell the blood of someone gullible and dumb
This cable is a beanstalk to my throne
Plug it in, you’ll never be alone
Allow me to suggest how you should vote
Let me shove some burgers down your throat
And if you’re hungry for a little news
Here’s the latest gossip on Tom Cruise
Media Giant
I’m a Media Giant
My sponsors have invented a new salve
And a new disease they’ll make you think you have
Ignore the side effects if they sound grim
We’ve been to see your doctor now talk to him
Allow me to suggest how you should feel
Now that you have signed up for my deal
Just be sure to keep up with your fee
The worthlessness I give you isn’t free
The media gets greedier
The audience gets needier
The programming gets seedier…ooohhh
Now you can’t tell which is which
The program or the product pitch
There is no where left to switch too
Our autumn lineup’s brought to you in part
By a circus that is just about to start
They’re coming soon to a town near you
By the way, I own the venues too
11. Part 3 – The Judge
The judge threw down his gavel
Said he’d had enough of law
He felt his mind unravel
and went out and bought a saw
He started cutting lumber
For to build himself an ark
He said "Our days are numbered,
Look how the sky is dark"
12. Part 4 – The Mayor
Well, sure enough the clouds were thick
I hastened up my stride
I found a store to do the trick
And so I went inside
Most folks were at their homes or work
Some in the church for prayer
Me, I paid the liquor clerk
And ran into the mayor
He rambled as I clutched my beer
"That circus sounds worthwhile,
It’s been so awful dull round here,
Except, of course, that trial."
I asked if justice had been served
He looked at me askew
“That bastard got what he deserved
and now I say adieu
13. Part 5 – The Mayor (Continued)
He walked away depressingly
Daydreaming down the lane
One day he had confessed to me
He longed to live in Spain
Perhaps a chef or matador
Or the Latin lover type...
But all he knew were rats and whores
And all they ate was tripe
14. Wishing Well
Politicians tell us
Everything will be just fine
We’re winning the war on terror
Poverty and crime
But everybody’s taking bribes
And partners promise not to tell
It’s getting harder to survive
Cause someone took the coins
From the wishing well
Someone plotted my future
With his charts
And with his graphs
And when the bucks roll in
Man, he’s the one that laughs
Now the prophets have all died
Cause fortunes are too tough to tell
And everybody’s got bad vibes
Cause someone took the coins
From the wishing well
Jesus Christ
He multiplied the fish and bread
There comes a time
When a man could use some wine instead
So now I’m on a welfare line
Cause no one’s buying what I sell
Brother can you spare a dime?
Or do I throw my credit card
In the wishing well?
15. A Very Special Girl
There is a very special girl I know
There is a very special place she goes
She has got her numbers down
She’s the brightest little flame in town
Don’t you call her on the phone
You have no chance
She’s in a trance
She is in another zone
Because she’s just a very special girl
She is a very special girl no doubt
She knows what everything is all about
She is on the inside track
Somebody’s always got her back
Don’t you ask her for a date
Don’t waste your time
Like I did mine
Brother it is much too late
Her parents thought that she was blessed
She’s always immaculately dressed
And if by now you haven’t guessed
I’m so impressed
I must confess
My heart is in a total mess
16. Part 6 – The Cop
I finally got home to my room
Before the storm had hit
I couldn’t shake a sense of doom
I felt like total shit
I quickly opened up a can
And hoped it wouldn’t fail
To help forget about that man
Now heading back to jail
The arresting officer was Bill
Known for iron fists
One day he moonlit at the mill
And somehow broke his wrists
From that day on, the big cop
Could barely hold a gun
So he dreamed about the big top
In desperate need of fun

In local news, well known police officer William Kenworth has suffered a career threatening injury while saving a man’s life on the job. 18. NOVEMBER
19. The Deal
Someone got elected
Someone else got paid
Someone got rejected
On the day the deal was made
Someone got real afraid
The day the deal got made
Someone got promoted
Someone got betrayed
Someone’s heart exploded
On the day the deal was made
Someone got real afraid
The day the deal got made
Who will be a martyr?
Who will just get “slayed”?
Will anyone get smarter?
Now that the deal got made
No one folded, everybody stayed
20. I Do Solemnly Swear (lyrics M. Wright)
Anthony the Lawyer, s’ been practicing for years
Puts tons of scum back on the street
Despite the families’ tears
His conscience has been dulled
He’s callus to what he sees
Too much paperwork for trial
Collects his cash and gets his pleas
…and I saw with my own eyes,
They moved up that Heathen’s Trial
And no one was surprised…
Loop holes and fine prints, he always solves his case
It’s all part of his cycle
the holes were already in place
And there, the tortured Heathen,
The lawyer could give a heck
The mayor wore Vaseline on his cuff
As Grease dropped off his check
One night down at the hole, Anthony leaned to me,
He said “that heathen was my brother,
I should have sent him free...”
The Giant and the People
All knew how this trial ends
Anthony left court early
Grabbed a latte and washed his Benz.
They moved up that Heathen’s Trial
…and I saw with my own eyes,
Barabbas got parole that day
And no one was surprised…
21. Stand Your Ground (The Resistance)
Well there’s a lot of things you gotta learn
Before you fight
You gotta know which way the tables turn
And what is right
If you’re intelligent and got two hands
And your heart is sound
When it’s time for us to make a stand
You’ll stick around
You got to stand your ground
If you want to be free you got to be brave
Listen to me if you want to be saved
Somebody’s gonna try to take your rights
So be prepared
And that’s the enemy you gotta fight
Just don’t be scared
Cause if they get you in a torture cell
Restrained and bound
And if you wanna tell them “Go to hell”
Don’t make a sound.
22. Hey Bill
Hey Bill, How’s it going man?
Do you remember the good old days?
Playing in a band?
Hanging in your dad’s garage
Banging on guitars
With those forty dollar amplifiers
Sitting on the cars
Hey Bill, do you remember
Trying to make it on your own
Playing in them two bit dives
And the open mike saloon?
Remember that Bob Dylan song
That you once sang for me?
Right before we lost you to
The police academy. Hey Bill.
Dreams can be your finest friends
If you’d just accept 'em
Nightmares will fill your head
Only if you let ‘em.
Hey Bill, How’s it going man?
23. Interlude #2 – Applause
24. Your Grace
Something I wanna know
You got nothing to say
Every time I look for you
You seem to be away
Something 'bout my pride
Says I just can’t hide
Maybe you’d feel different
If you knew I’m on your side
Take my Hand, I won’t let you slip away
Take my life, Don’t let me die today
Take my soul
Save me from this pity and disgrace
Give me just a little of your warm
Blinding grace
Back when we were kids
Never thought I’d hit the skids
But you just get more beautiful
Please tell me what you did
Lord knows how hard I tried
And all the tears I cried
For every chosen one it seems
Somebody gets denied
I’m a sinner and I’m down upon my knees
You’re swinging on some magical trapeze
I’m a cannonball that somehow missed his mark
You are up there glowing in the dark
I’m running out of luck
The town has run amok
They say a war is coming
And they say we’re really fucked
Your destiny’s foretold
Your future’s lined with gold
Can I help you build a new world?
From the ashes of the old
25. Headline (The Heathen Speaks)
There is one headline today
It’s black and white
No more red or blue or grey
There is one headline today
The giants and their clients
On the other side of science
The brothers of invention who persecute dissention
Anonymous enslavers who monitor behaviors
with eyes behind computers and identity intruders
The faith manipulators, the fear perpetuators
Unqualified deciders and the evidence deriders
The wielders of stilettos
in the boardrooms and the ghettos
The generals and contractors
and all murder benefactors
The convicted and untaken
whose crimes are unmistaken
The jailers and the judges
with their hang ups and their grudges
The gangsters and stool pigeons
Hijackers of religions
The suicidal bombers and all you Jeffrey Dahmers
The grammar school gunslingers
And the idolized bad singers
Abusers and molesters and unethical investors
The opiated masses complacent in their classes
The heroin suppliers and exploiters of desires
Relentless paparazzi and every closet Nazi
The lords of litigation who paralyze the nation
And all those I've forgotten whose fruits are getting rotten
Better seek illumination or face elimination
That is all I ever tried to say
There is one headline today
“Rise and shine or prepare to fade away”
There is one headline today
26. DECEMBER – God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
27. Interlude #3 – Trumpets and Guns
28. Part 7 – The Sergeant
At the army base beyond the lake
The sergeant cast his spell
Over the men who took a break
To hear his tales of Hell
He’d never bat an eyelid
Each time he did confess
Cause what some other guy did
Made all his guilt seem less
Then all at once the sirens blared
The base on full alert
At first the Sergeant wasn’t scared
He buttoned up his shirt
The men fell in as they were trained
They laughed and joked until
A crackling speaker voice refrained
"THIS IS NOT A DRILL"
Meanwhile I drank my seventh can
of delicious, ice cold brew
and then I heard the weatherman
say "Oh my God, we're through"
"Something's coming, that's for sure"
And very slow it went
It rocked my house and shook my floor
like a herd of elephant
29. Part 8 – The Priest and the Storm
In the church next to the station
the priest got up to speak
He talked of Revelation
He talked about the meek
The sermon was inspired
And it had a righteous tone
But then the priest retired
Saying "Now you're on your own"
Then somewhere in the distance
They heard a lion's roar
And it was in this instance
The priest ran for the door
Someone said that it must be
the circus on its way
But Bill said, "That's insanity,
I recommend you pray".
"Pray to whom and what and how"?
Another cried with dread,
"The priest is on a train by now.
He took the wine and bread"
"Now look, the wind is gaining force,
Behold the heavens’ wrath!
A fearsome storm is on its course
The church is in its path".
And so the parish fled in fright
Screaming, "Hurricane!"
The judge felt justified and right
But the rain it never came
Instead the wind persisted
and all were quite concerned,
while as the judge insisted,
his ark dried up and burned
30. Part 9 – The Showdown
So the sergeant got his orders
He licked his bloodless lips
His men patrolled the borders
of the apocalypse
"Shoot on sight" and "martial law"
Were slogans of the hour
The scientists in shock and awe,
were jealous of the power
Though twas a foe they’d never met
Familiar was the fear
But who or what had posed the threat
Was never really clear
With cannons, guns and swords and sticks
And whips to tame the beasts
All weapons had been positioned and fixed
And pointed to the East
31. The Countdown
Now your number has been drawn
Count the crosses on the lawn
Count the bullets in your gun
Count the seconds as they run
This world is running out of time
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Count the years that you have grown
Count the blessings you have known
Count the curses you’ve endured
They won’t count to you no more
If you feel your time don’t add up to much
You’re just like me
But in the end we’re both the same
We’re both divisible by three…oh yeah
Now the numbers all compute
The solution absolute
Now it’s time to choose your side
Time to subtract and divide
32. 7:00 (The Resistance Folds)
Look what’s happening on the hill
Guess we’d better beware
Looks like something’s being fulfilled
I don’t want to be anywhere near there
I’m not feeling too well, 7:00 and all is hell
No one raised their hand, no one protested
No one made a stand, you’re all arrested
33. Meet the Heathen (lyrics – M. Wright)
Sitting on Dante’s fence I wonder
Why my life is such a blunder
Contemplating on my white horse
Procrastinating Life
I’m just like you, you see
Disgusted by society
I only spoke of what I saw
Giant cries for blood
They hold my jaw
Blasphemy, Insanity
Is what I accused of you
But they turn the finger back at me
And call it my own view
I AM THE FALSE PROPHET
THE TRUTH HAS BEEN LOST
Now I carry my own cross
Awaiting to be hung
Gasping for just one last breath
I am fed my tongue
I have settled my last debts
These no longer hinder
I now too can see HER light
Inhaling my own cinder
All HIS flock was led astray
never meant to be that way
Purgatory sheep they are
Theological Lies
34. Hell’s Tenants (Lyrics by A. Wright & R. Russo)
Before you put your neck in that noose
Dear Brother, I will accept your truce
But don’t think you won’t have to feel
There will be no court of appeals
You have tried your final case
Now its time to take your place
There’s no penance for Hell’s tenants
And there’s no redemption for you
You’re an easy target
And there’s nothing you can do
You tried to run, you tried to hide
You want to put out the burning inside
You want to feel better but nothing has changed
Your whole future is dodging flames
If justice is the sum of all things pure
Congratulations…you almost got a score
Objection…overruled
This jury was never fooled
What will our mother say?
When you pass us on your way
35. Red Horse (Lyrics by A. Wright & M. Wright)
The Sergeant galloped up the hill
And when he reached the top
He called for his biographer
And took a photo op
Above him hung the Heathen,
Still clinging to his pride
The Sergeant then drew forth his sword
And stuck him in the side
The Heathen slowly raised his head
And peered through woolen hair
Then offered the Sarge a stoic grin
And laughed at his red mare
“If I were you I’d lose that brute
A foul and smelly beast
That goes for all his men to boot
Dear horse you’ll be released”
Have you no respect Sarge cried
I’ve conquered foreign lands
I slaughtered every soul I found
Who scoffed at my demands
Then he turned red as his horse
The heathen more amused
The Sarge was never mocked before
His men were all confused
As water trickled down the cross
And clouds revealed the moon
Just to prove he was still boss
Sarge wasted his platoon
Twas then the Red Horse threw him off
He landed in the mud
Inside his vest he pulled a pin
But the grenade it was a dud
36. PhlemCo’s Going Out of Business Sale
Well it’s PhlemCo’s “Going Out of Business Sale”
Our headquarters has just caught fire
The CEO’s skipped town
The Giant’s satellite’s gone down
Help yourself to all the drugs you desire
We got powders and creams
Stuff to give you dreams
We got painkillers by the score
I just took some myself
And I’m in perfect health
PhlemCo ain’t in business anymore
37. Update
The heathen lost his burden
And the cop is still a’hurting
The judge had failed to swerve us
And the seargent’s getting nervous
The priest is on a mission
That don’t involve contrition
The train it keeps a rollin’
And the battle bells are tollin’
And on the other railing
The circus train is sailing
The mayor is still a’pining
And the girl is still a shinin’
I’m thinking how I love her
Trying not to blow my cover
And so I keep on drinkin
While my TV set is blinkin’
38. Love Can Never Die
Look into my eyes, tell me what you see
The saviour of your life?
that could never be me
But babe don’t you cry
Look to the sky
And don’t do it
Love can never die
There must be something to it
“Well, I hear what you say
And I guess it’s for the best
Please take this badge away
Always wear it on your breast
And I won’t cry
I’ll look to the sky
I won’t do it
Love can Never die
There must be something to it”
39. The Bridge
We crossed the bridge at midnight
And the Priest sat next to me and bowed his head
And the residents of this four horse town
Who didn’t get to leave are probably dead
Well the newspaper man was writing it down
But somewhere in the night his pen was lost
And the millionaire tried to remember a prayer
But all he could do was calculate the cost
We crossed the bridge in the pouring rain
And the Holy Ghost has just jumped off the train
Home is so far away
Those legal games mean nothing now
The lawyer’s case had ended in contempt
While the CEOs curled up in bed
They questioned what they sold and what they kept
The train rolled hard, ripped up the track
All of our past was lost into the rain
a pusher made his one last pitch
“Take two of these to take away the pain”
We crossed the bridge in the pouring rain
And the Holy Ghost has just jumped off the train
Home is so far away
The loudest sound was heard toward town
Somewhere on that bridge a freight had passed
It was full of clowns who wore their frowns
their stop in hell would surely be their last
We crossed the bridge in the pouring rain
And the Holy Ghost has just jumped off the train
Home is so far away
The landscape is changing by the day
40. Interlude #5 – The Tears of a Clown
41. Part 10 – The Center Ring
Meanwhile, the Mayor took his last chance
He hopped aboard a plane
They say it crashed somewhere in France
He never got to Spain
A stowaway was on that flight
The Sarge had gone AWOL
Some wars are not for men to fight
He had no luck at all
That day was the "berserk-est"
I should have bought more beer
I wondered if the Circus
would dare to travel here
I wondered bout the heathen
And then I learned his fate
He was no longer breathin'
He was crucified at eight
The judge sang as he trembled
On a pile of smoldering ash
In a voice that quite resembled
the late great Johnny Cash
The suckers threw their stones and cursed
The judge turned black and blue
Then one by one the crowd dispersed
And animals two by two
Alone inside the battered church
Old Bill stared at the cross
Nobody even thought to search
They figured he was lost
He walked a tightrope in his head
He danced with clowns and geeks
He fed the lions hunks of bread
As wine ran down his cheeks
Then Bill just gave up dreaming
His wrists were wracked with pain
The heat of Hell was steaming
On the street and in his brain
And so he took a single round
In a death defying feat
The circus finally came to town
But death was far too fleet
42. Bill’s Plea (One More Chance)
Oh I didn’t mean for the gun to go off
It was a terrible accident
Give me one just more chance to repent
One more chance to pay the rent
One more chance…
43. Interlude # 6 - Knock Knock
44. Part 11 – The Ring Master
Twas then I heard the Ring Master
yell, "Boy, put on your boots!"
In the midst of this disaster
He was looking for recruits
What could I do? What could I say?
How could I refuse?
I followed him into the fray
not even wearing shoes
Now if you're wondering
about the priest
The only one involved
to disappear, to say the least
This matter's unresolved
But have no fear, I’m on the case
Employed in my new trade
And if you ever see my face
You’ll know that you’ve been made
Until that day,
I raise a beer
And offer you this toast
with one last thing
you need to hear
To interest you the most
Here’s to the girl I mentioned
She finally gave birth
To God's latest invention
in the greatest show on Earth.
45. EPILOUGUE – 7 Years later (Circus Music)
46. The Horses’ Reign
So the White Horse hung upon his cross
And the Red Horse died by fire of course
And the Pale Green Horse is holding court
Though he knows his time is short
See every horse will have his day
And the Black Horse is on the way
47. Pale Horse (Return of the Priest) (lyrics – M. Wright)
Blistered lungs greeted his return
Infliction is what we have earned
The people wore a grotesque sore
The pale horse scoffs at our concern
Spare the Children, for they know not
Look how the Rash it spreads
The crier cries, “bring out your dead”
Black death is here, we have no tears
I can’t stop splitting my head
The preacher brought us the shortest straw
No repentance, not no more
We pray to die quick, our spirit’s sick
We are cast from the bowels, of the godless whore
Spare the Children, for they know not
Their souls are forgiven to rebuild the Lot…
48. Black Horse (lyrics – M. Wright & A. Wright)
And so I rode back into town
To see what had remained
Families fought for bread
And the river, crimson stained
Where are you great leaders?
Your wars have left us humbled
Empty promises and materialism
Our golden arches crumbled
Famished we cry, famished we learn
Weeping for crumbs of memories that burn
Radiation contamination
Our crops and fruit are spoiled
Emptiness that makes us mad
The water can’t be boiled
Pestilence- God’s wrath I see
My part has been played
I look for Her, hold out my hand
For tomorrow I am saved
Famished we cry, famished we learn
Weeping for crumbs of memories that burn…NOW
Through the dark I see light, shades of gray, spots of white
I see colors, I see kids, all those silly things we did
I see Grandpa, Uncle Artie, all my past, oh what a party
I see the future; they’re part of it, I run to it and I love it
Is this the riddle? Am I wrong? She was with me all along….
Questioning those riddles -Of the trials of our life
The answers are before us
Learn from the past and strife
America, America God shed your Grace on thee
Grab some peanuts and some popcorn
Heaven’s open, come and see
Famished we cried, famished we learned
Waiting for crops of what we’ve re-earned
Then I heard through the quiet, not a panic nor a riot
I heard a rumble and a roar,
Heard Her voice that I adore
I heard the angels and ghosts, and all those I miss the most
I heard laughing, I heard singing,
Trumpets blazing, bells were ringing
Her daughter, just like She,
is the Hope and we are free.
Famished we cried, famished we learned
Standing our ground, for His great return.
49. Ode to Bread and Circuses (poem by M.
Wright)
Life was handed to Mankind
An Alien and Angelic Tribe
Songs of praise and holy offering
Lucifer rises to greet the morning
Knowledge was shared and the beast rejoiced
The Golden Calves would soon be hoist
Sacred Geometry paving the way
While our great prophets led astray
Knowledge was used to dupe the people
Create Hate and leave them cripple
Who had the knowledge? And who could do worst?
Our sons died in wars, while they quenched their thirst
They burry the truth in secret societies
Royal bloodlines earn the proprieties
Weapons made from hidden code
Used for profit, amassing debit that is owed
O heed the masse will soon find out
The Knowledge of Yahweh
And what it’s about
Science is God, the distortions unjust
Enlightened politicians will crumble with rust
Behold the cleansing of our being
An end to the circus
The abortion we are seeing…

52. Bonus Track #1 Original Epilogue (7 Years Later)
Well I wonder what killed poor William
Were you done in by the law?
Did you die in the civil war?
How did you finally reach that door?
Poor William.
Well I wonder what killed poor William
Did you die from some malaise?
Did you die from living too many days?
And who put those flowers on your grave?
Poor William.
53. Bonus Track #2 Announcement
54. Bonus Track #2 “Heathens Whores and Politicians” (lyrics by J. Trotte / Music by A. Wright)
Heathens, Whores and Politicians
Heathens Whores and Politicians
They’re no different to me
Heathens Whores and Politicians
Are not always what you see
Wearing clothes that mask the vision
Using illusion to shroud the mission
Dirty little secret for no one to see
Pay the price admission ain’t free
It is a place where you can have all your hearts desire
It is a place where you can join those you admire
Heathens Whores and Politicians
They’re no different to me
Heathens Whores and Politicians
Are not always what you see
Your thoughts are not your own
You must do what you are told
Your actions are now your tribute
Your loyalty is what you’ve sold
It is a place where you can have all your hearts desire
It is a place where you can join those you admire
